Presentation

Oriane Lacaille's world is inspired by Africa, India, Madagascar and Europe. As a singer, percussionist, songwriter, composer and performer, she embodies the Creole heritage of Réunion Island.

In the Lacaille family, accordionist René was one of the pioneers of Réunionese music in the 1970s, along with his accomplices Alain Péters and Danyel Waro. Oriane Lacaille, his daughter who grew up in metropolitan France but was steeped in the island's maloya and sega, is now carrying on this family tradition which, in the generations before hers, was forbidden to women.

Having also inherited the idea that music is a collective gesture that embraces the community, she has long expressed herself with others, in the duos Titi Zaro (with Coline Linder) and Bonbon Vodou (with JereM Boucris) in particular. With the support of Piers Faccini, she released her first EP under her own name in April 2022 and went on the road with her trio to present this new repertoire. iViV, her debut album, was released on 6 October 2023.
On stage, Oriane Lacaille, a singer-percussionist who also plays ukulele and aouicha (a small gnawa guembri), is surrounded by Héloïse Divilly (drums) and Yann-Lou Bertrand (double bass, trumpet, flute), who are also involved in vocal harmonies, accompanying her on songs swaying to the ternary rhythms of the island.
With the gentleness of nursery rhymes or the strength of percussion, Oriane Lacaille sings of her joys and angers, assimilating her family heritage into a strong personality.
