An itinerary without any particular technical difficulty which allows you to appreciate very beautiful mountain landscapes and to understand the pastoral environment of Valmorel.
The start of the Montagne de Tête loop is at the Valmorel station, in the hamlet of Fontaine, at the foot of the Lanchettes chairlift (1350m). The first part of the route is profiled on a wide, gently sloping path that crosses a flowery meadow to Montolivet. Then the path rises in order to access the ridge of the Montagne de Tête.
Once on the Biard plateau (1,560m), the route takes a carriage track which bypasses the Montagne de Tête and provides a panoramic view of the magnificent and wild Lauzière massif.
After passing the crossing at the Arenouillaz ski lifts, you will reach the top of the Altispace chairlift, the highest point of the route at 1,920 altitude. From there, you have an exceptional view of the Morel valley, Lauzière, the summit of Crève-Tête and Mont-Blanc in focus.
The descent by the path called "51 turns" is quite fast through the mountain pastures. Then, a pleasant crossing in a spruce forest will take you along the torrent of Morel before returning to Valmorel at the tennis courts behind the hamlet of Mottet. Beware of the possible presence of mountain bikes on this last part of the forest.
Environment: forest, mountain pasture, torrent Points of interest: panoramas of the Lauzière Massif Difficulty: no technical difficulty Estimated time: 5h to 6h (3h30 to 4h if lifts)
