{"id":32120,"date":"2020-04-01T11:13:03","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T09:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.valmorel.com\/histoire\/"},"modified":"2021-01-05T16:21:43","modified_gmt":"2021-01-05T15:21:43","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.valmorel.com\/en\/destination\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h1>HHistory: the birth of Valmorel<\/h1>\n<h2 class=\"chapeau\">The resort of Valmorel is said to be\u00a0 a 4th generation resort, of medium size, built after the great achievements of the 1960s.<br \/>\nValmorel was\u00a0 part of the process which started paying greater respect to the natural environment.<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]In <strong>1974<\/strong>, the communes of Aigueblanche and L\u00e9ch\u00e8re joined together to form the <strong>District of the Aigueblanche Basin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the projects at the origin of this municipal association was <strong>the creation of a winter sports resort<\/strong> to counter the rural exodus which was hitting the Morel valley.<\/p>\n<p>A protocol was signed in August 1975. As part of the <strong>Snow Plan<\/strong>, the urban planner-architect, <strong>Michel Bezan\u00e7on<\/strong>, was called upon to create a new mountain-style village, <strong>a &#8220;village resort&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Valmorel was born in 1976<\/strong>. The resort has specifically \u201cmanaged\u201d architecture with robust chalets of 3 to 4 floors spread over several hamlets and built with noble materials: slate covered gable roofs, stones facades, trompe-l&#8217;oeil decorations and an abundance of wood.<\/p>\n<p>The village was built around a main pedestrian street, <strong>rue du Bourg<\/strong>, whose shops have decorative and colourful facades and signs.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;70px&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;15037&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;img_valmo1&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;64px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;15116&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; style=&#8221;img_valmo1&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The Valmorel resort opened for <strong>Christmas 1976<\/strong> with the 2 * hotel La Fontaine and a hundred apartments in the residences of La Souche and La Sapini\u00e8re totalling 197 beds.
